Power of God
(II Timothy 3:5 [KJV]) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
What does the it mean when they say those having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof ?
(I Corinthians 1:23-24 [KJV]) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
We see that the power of God is Christ. So they deny Christ or they have another Jesus like a work salvation Jesus that did not pay for our sins on the cross.
CHAP. II. Hee declareth that his preaching, 1 though it bring not excellency of speech, or of 4 humane wisedome: yet consisteth in the 4. 5 power of God: and so farre excelleth 6 the wisedome of this world, and 9 humane sense, as that 14 the naturall man cannot vnderstand it.
Here we see that Pauls preaching consisteth in the power of God. So people that deny Pauls preaching and instead prefer the wisdom of men are also these that deny the power of God.
(I Corinthians 2:5 [KJV]) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Here we see that our faith should be based on Christ crucified and on Pauls preaching as written in the AV1611.
