Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. — KJV, Matthew 11:29
Also the Antichrist is the king over all the children of pride.
He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride. — KJV, Job 41:34
We are to not respect the proud but rather trust in the Lord.
Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. — KJV, (Psalms 40:4
We see from old testament occurences of proud in the AV1611 that being proud is in opposition to God.
But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments, — KJV, Nehemiah 9:16
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them. — KJV, Exodus 18:11
God is against those who have a proud heart.
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. — KJV, Psalms 101:5
The only positive i have found in the kjv about pride is
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. — KJV, Psalms 31:23
But that is speaking to saints. So I guess its referring to doing the scripture or doing the will of God as a saved believer. Also a proud doer is different from a proud in heart. But most importantly the proud doer talked about in Psalm 31:23 is a saint.
Proverbs and Ecclesiastics speaks against those that are proud in heart:
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.— KJV, Proverbs 6:16-19
The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. — KJV, Proverbs 15:25
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. — KJV, Proverbs 16:5
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. — KJV, Proverbs 16:19
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin. — KJV, Proverbs 21:4
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. — KJV, Proverbs 16:18
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. — KJV, Ecclesiastes 7:8
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13
So to sum it up. A person that is proud in heart is heading towards destruction, hated by God and is probably lost and the spiritual child of an antichrist and we should not respect him or her nor divide the spoil with the proud.
How should we deal with the proud ?
We should hate pride, treat a proud person as someone that is hated of God. We should not respect a proud person and we should not devide the spoil with the proud.
We should not treat him as a brother in Christ.
